The humble dry erase pen began life in the sales and marketing field many years ago, as a replacement for using a permanent pen on large tablets of paper for sales leaders or orators to convey illustrations and facts and figures to assemblies of medium size.

Previous to the dry erase pen, the only thing was to pack in a very heavy chalkboard and use regular chalk, but this was not often doable, especially when traveling. Their other choice was a giant sheet of paper clamped to an easel, to which, notes and drawings were made with a permanent marker or grease pen. When travelling for any length of time, a lecturer or manager could require 100′s of sheets of paper in the form of tablets of large format paper.

With the invention of the dry erase pen this all changed. Now, facts and figures, notes and images can be applied to a light weight whiteboard, then simply wiped right off with a dry towel or regular eraser. With the dry erase pen, the dry erase board can be used over and over. With no heavy chalkboard, no Dusty chalk and no piles of large format paper to deal with, the dry erase pen was an overnight success.

It wasn’t long until teachers discovered the dry erase pen for classroom work. First for the educator in general lectures and facts and figures, but, soon, for the student. Since whiteboards were cheapin and light weight, even small children could have their own personal 8″x 11″ dry erase tablet to work on using a non-toxic, low odor dry erase pen.

Of course, today a dry erase pen comes in a myriad sizes, shapes & colors. There is no question the dry erase pen is the most common type of marker manufactured in the world.
